Financial Benefits
The fellowship covers the following expenses:
- Tuition Fees: Full exemption.
- Monthly Living Allowance: Provided for the duration of the program.

- Additional Allowance: $80 monthly from UNESCO.
Programme Duration
- Visiting Scholar Program: 1 year (General or Senior Scholar).
- Master’s Degree Program: 2 years.
- Doctoral Degree Program: 3-5 years.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the fellowship, candidates must meet the following criteria:
For Visiting Scholars
- General Scholars: Must hold a high school diploma and be under 45 years old.
- Senior Scholars: Must hold a master’s degree or an equivalent academic position and be under 50 years old.
- English proficiency is mandatory (Chinese proficiency at HSK Level 3 is required for Chinese-taught programs).
For Degree Programs
- Master’s Degree Applicants: Must hold a bachelor’s degree and be under 35 years old.
- Doctoral Degree Applicants: Must hold a master’s degree and be under 40 years old.
- English proficiency is mandatory (Chinese proficiency at HSK Level 4 is required for Chinese-taught programs).
Additionally, candidates must meet the admission requirements of their chosen Chinese universities and be in good health both mentally and physically.

- Contact National Commission: Reach out to the National Commission for UNESCO in your home country for detailed instructions on the application process.
- Online Application: Submit your application on the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (Campus China). Attach necessary documents, including admission letters, if applicable.
- Submit to National Commission: Provide your application to your National Commission for UNESCO by the deadline.
- Nomination to UNESCO: National Commissions will forward selected candidates’ applications to UNESCO by February 12, 2025.
